Writer: Kerri-Ann SeredinskyKerri-Ann Seredinsky

The Ivy League of the Mid-Hudson Valley, Vassar College, is a collegiate masterpiece located in Arlington, NY a suburb of the City of Poughkeepsie. Not only is the campus stunning, but just a step off campus and you’re in the walking district of a college town offering delicious eats. If you’re a Vassar student, you may already be familiar with most of these places, but if you aren’t and are looking to visit the area, here are a few places to try.

If you’re looking for a fresh brew to get your day started or an evening pick me up. The Crafted Kup is your place. The hours are long making it a great destination 7 days a week. This place also has one of the best atmospheres to get work done in around. As a student at Marist, when I’m sick of the library, this is the place I’ll take a trip to for a change of scenery. Just a fair warning though this place gets pretty crowded late mornings. The Crafted Kup brews Coffee Lab Roasters beans from Tarrytown, NY. As a Westchester local, it’s thrilling to see this place expanding and selling to coffee shops in other counties.

What to try: Any of their coffees or specialty lattes.

33 Arlington Ave #2, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603

Monday- Friday 7am-3:30pm; Saturday-Sunday 8:30am-1pm

The grand opening of Chakra Bowls took place this past Monday, October 15th and I gotta say it was well worth the wait! Former Marist Alumni, Lauren Hoheusle, started her journey with a GoFundMe page that has since helped fund her opening of the store. What started as a home delivery service of nutritional smoothie bowls, has now become a superfood cafe in an effort to bring more health and wellness to the Poughkeepsie area.

What to try: Seasonal Bowl or Classic Mermaid Bowl

For almost 15 years this place has been a staple to the Arlington walking

district.Previously known as Babycakes Bakery Café specializing in baked goods only, this place has become a full service restaurant and bar. While you can still find the fresh baked goods that gave this place it’s name, now you can enjoy a number of other dishes that make this one of Poughkeepsie’s top restaurants. Since expanding in 2007, this place has secured its spot as a local favorite among Vassar students and community members.

BurgerFi sources its beef from only 1% of the worlds beef population to maintain their promise to the “Never-Ever” program. This program promises that heir beef is free-range, humanely treated and raised on vegetarian diets never exposing them to steroids, antibiotics, growth hormones, chemicals or additives.
